* iodine volt
Iodov is an amorphous complex formed by iodine with surfactant (carrier) and solvent. Iodov is a complex with uncertain molecular size formed by the combination of iodine and carrier in the form of hydrogen bond and other gravitation.
*Carrier of iodine volt can be broadly divided into three categories:
1. Non-ionic surfactants: such as polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ether (POP), alkylphenol polyethylene aliphatic alcohol ether (np-i), polyethylene glycol (PEG), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), etc. Most carriers of iodic preparations on the market are usually non-ionic surfactants.2, cationic surfactant: such as cetyl dimethyl benzylamine iodine.3, anion surface active iodine: such as alkyl sulfonate complex iodine.
*Know povidone iodine,Iodovolt, which is supported by nonionic surfactant polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and whose legal name is povidone iodine, is the only iodovolt variety accepted by Chinese pharmacopoeia. Thus, povidone iodine is only a variety of iodov disinfectants, so it cannot be considered as povidone iodine.
*Precautions for the use of iodine volt
1. Iodide solution is prone to produce toxic mercury iodide precipitation when confronted with mercury red;
2. Triiodiphenol is easily generated in the presence of phenol; For large area (more than 20%) skin injury patients with caution, in order to avoid excessive absorption of iodine;
3. This product should not be used in patients who need thyroid function test, otherwise it will affect the test results of patients.
4, organic matter seriously affect the iodine disinfection ability, sterilization ability with the increase of organic matter and decline, so, in the use of iodine disinfection must be done before disinfection cleaning.
5, iodine is corrosive to the metal, should not be the corresponding metal products disinfection. When using alginate dressing for wound dressing change, be sure to use sterile injection water, the wound containing iodine disinfectant after the use of alginate dressing.
*Service life of povidone iodine after opening bottle
1. Wang fang, lu zan-mei, liu yanhui et al. 's research on the effective use period after the opening of the skin disinfectant iodov shows that within the standard range, the original plastic bottle of iodov can be used continuously for 10 days after opening.
2. Zhao lixia, wang jiaping, Yang le et al. 's research on the continuous bactericidal effect of povidone iodine disinfectant after bottle opening.
In short, iodine is volatile, open storage solution concentration decreased significantly, and iodine is easy to be oxidized, based on these two reasons, the use of iodine should be opened with the cover, to avoid concentration drop, or according to their own unit provisions used or stored.
So you can see that. Iodov is the general name of a class of disinfectants containing iodine, and povidone iodine is one of the types of iodov disinfectants.
Therefore, some textbooks or data on the "iodine volt (povidone iodine)" is not rigorous; And on a few goods direct label "iodov disinfectant" the practice that regards commodity name also is not quite appropriate, as medical personnel you must be clear about.
